What is your average day like:‍

A perfect working day for me starts with an early morning workout before work begins. I then enjoy some playtime with my five month old son. If that is not possible in the morning, I usually manage an hour in the evening. I check in with my team to make sure everyone is focused on our goals at JKB and run training sessions for new advisers who are still learning. Supporting them to build strong client links helps our work at JKB continue beyond the clients I serve. In the afternoon, I plan two or three client meetings. These range from first meetings with new clients to sessions with existing ones as we deal with changing laws or fast moving economic conditions. Dinner with my wife helps me relax whether we eat out or at home. Before sleep, I read 30 to 50 pages of a book to unwind and end the day rested.

What do you like most about your job?

I like the fact that almost anyone can become a client of mine. I have clients who are my closest friends or family members I’ve known all my life, as well as people I’ve never met face to face, yet we’ve developed the trust needed for me to become their financial adviser. Before COVID, I didn’t have a single client I hadn’t met in person. While my preference has always been, and always will be, to see the whites of my clients’ eyes, around 20% of my client base I’ve never met in person.

I have worked in financial services for 12 years now, 10 of which have been at SJP.
